By visiting a pool builder's showroom, you can see the actual material that will be used in constructing your pool, such as decking, tile and pool finishes. When you visit a pool builder's place of business or showroom, it puts the responsibility on him to represent his products and craftsmanship fairly and honestly. Obviously, maintaining a place of business is more expensive than carrying around a picture book of his "projects" in the back of the car. IS THE POOL BUILDER LICENSED IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA? IF SO, WHAT IS THE LICENSE NUMBER?A pool or service contractor’s license from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is required for the construction, repair, and servicing of any swimming pool, hot tub or spa, whether for public or private use. This includes the installation; repair or replacement of existing equipment; any cleaning or equipment sanitizing which requires at least a partial disassembling (excluding filter changes); the installation of new pool/spa equipment; interior finishes; the installation of package pool heaters; the installation of all perimeter piping and filter piping; and the construction of equipment rooms or housing for pool/spa equipment. WHICH INSURANCE COMPANY REPRESENTS THE POOL BUILDER FOR GENERAL OR PERSONAL LIABILITY AND WORKERS' COMPENSATION COVERAGE?A professional pool builder will provide you with a contact at the insurance company for you to verify their policy, and obtain a certificate of insurance. A certificate will only be provided if you request it, so make sure you do.DuWet has general liability, workers' compensation, auto, and professional liability insurance.
ARE YOUR POOL BUILDER'S SUBCONTRACTORS LICENSED AND DO THEY CARRY GENERAL LIABILITY INSURANCE AND WORKER'S COMPENSATION INSURANCE?A subcontractor is someone who is not an employee of the pool builder, such as a plumber or laborer, an electrician, or gunite shooter. A professional pool builder will require that all the subcontractors carry liability insurance and are covered for workers' compensation.
